By my analysis, Team Rocket are the Pokemon representation of Freud's theory of the psyche.
Jessie, the covetous, violent, selfish member represents the id.
Meowth, the brains of the operation concerned with the practicalities of their mission, is the ego.
James, the high society-born neurotic, often the naive voice of reason, acts as a perfunctory superego.
